Yesterday, an open letter was published to Medium on behalf of over 380 writers across the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, calling for compassion, mediation and a ceasefire to the genocide in Palestine. It's a letter we believe everyone should read. Demanding:
1. The immediate unrestricted distribution of food and medical aid throughout Gaza by the UN.
2. That sanctions be imposed on the State of Israel if the Israeli government does not heed this call, which is also the world’s call, for an immediate ceasefire.
3. A ceasefire which guarantees safety and justice for all Palestinians, the release of all Israeli hostages, and the release of the thousands of Palestinian prisoners arbitrarily held in Israeli jails.
We support the Canongate authors who've signed this open letter, and their fellow writers, and join their call for a ceasefire.
